THE DROWSY CHAPERONE
DIRECTED BY JEREMY BISHOP

In collaboration with Habersham Central High School, HCT will present The Drowsy Chaperone, a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another. With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life, with two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan, and an intoxicated chaperone. This is the stuff of legends... or at least an evening of madcap delight. This production will be shown at the HCHS theater and will not be part of our season ticket offering (separate tickets will be needed to attend this event).

AUDITIONS

The Drowsy Chaperone is a raucous comedy that celebrates the music of the 1930s with song and dance and plenty of heart and laughter. Auditions for The Drowsy Chaperone for high school ages and above will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, and Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm at the Habersham Central High School auditorium (behind the gymnasium) at 2059 Highway 197, Mount Airy, GA 30563. You only need to attend one of those days (not both). If you are unable to audition during those times, please contact the director, Jeremy Bishop, at jbishop@habershamschools.com.
