HCHS Stage Raiders Bring Their Winning One Act Play to HCT!

The Habersham Central High School Stage Raiders, led by Jeremy Bishop, won first place in at the Georgia High School Association One Act Play regional competition on Saturday with Philip Dawkins' play, Failure: A Love Story. Congratulations, Stage Raiders!

This is the second straight Region win for the Stage Raiders, and the third in five years. Senior Rylan Pugh (who recently performed at HCT as Will Parker in Oklahoma!) won the prestigious Best Actor Award, the second of his high school career. Seniors Ellawyn Ketch and Ashton Umbehant (also an HCT performer, having recently played Curly McLean in Oklahoma!) were named to the All-Star Cast. The Stage Raiders will represent Habersham at the State competition on November 9th.

Habersham Community Theater has invited the HCHS Stage Raiders to present an encore performance of Failure: A Love Story on the Kollock stage at HCT for one night only on November 7, 2019 at 7:30 pm. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Donations will be gratefully accepted by the troupe to cover their travel costs to the competition.

Failure: A Love Story, directed by Jeremy Bishop, has a comedic, narrative style that serves as a playful yet potent reference to the internal tick-tock of time that is upon us.

Meet the Fail sisters – Gertie, Jenny June, and Nelly – as they live out their lives above the family clock repair shop, until their time unexpectedly runs out. When a young man named Mortimer Mortimer stops by their clock shop on a Sunday drive, none of their lives will ever be the same. By the end of 1928, all three sisters will be dead, expiring youngest to oldest from blunt object to the head, disappearance, and finally consumption. Theirs is a world of talking clocks, parakeets, and catastrophe.

The show illustrates, as in life, that the power of love is far greater than any individual’s successes or failures.

At HCT, we firmly believe in reaching out and supporting the arts in our community. Join us as we support the high school and several of our young HCT performers in this fabulous One Act show!

Admission to Failure: A Love Story is free of charge, with general seating while seats are available.
